Royal Mail Postage Price Update - April 30th, 2012
Royal Mail postage prices are due to increase on 30th April 2012.
At Mugs&Gifts, we only charge postage prices that we have to pay. We don't have a fixed price that ends up costing you more for postage when you're only ordering one item. Our postage costs are linked to weight-based packet rate of Royal Mail. When their prices change, we have to change ours. This means that you'll never be charged more for postage than the postage costs us, but also that any increases made by Royal Mail are the same increases we have to implement here.
The key price changes after April 2012 are as follows -
The Royal Mail has removed the 100g, 250g and 500g weight points. Now anything under 750g will cost the same price to send. Anything under 500g will increase in postage cost, but anything between 500-750g will decrease.
What this means:
Postage Cost for a Single 10oz Mug
Before the increase, a single mug could be posted for £2.16 (2nd Class), £2.48 (1st Class), and £3.25 (1st Class, Recorded).
This will now increase to £2.20, £2.70, and £3.65 respectively.
Postage Cost for Two 10oz Mugs
Before the increase, a single mug could be posted for £2.61 (2nd Class), £3.05 (1st Class), and £3.82 (1st Class, Recorded).
This will now reduce to £2.20, £2.70, and £3.65 respectively.
Now it'll work out cheaper to buy two mugs at the same time as one.
